Students have an opportunity to apply what they learn through hands-on, real world application. In the first semester of 7th Grade Life Science course students are challenged with a pre-medical school experience (making learning fun). “Doctors in Training” are given white coats and work their way through learning about health and disease in the human body. Their clinical and pre-clinical work will cover the Cardio-Pulmonary, Muculo-Skeletal, Histology, Clinical Trials, Neurology, Reproductive/ Embryology, Gastroenology, Heredity, Infections disease, and First Aid.
In one of their first lab days students dissected a lamb heart with the following directions: 1) Thread the BLUE string through the right atrium, into the right ventricle, and out the pulmonary artery, 2) Thread the RED string through the left atrium into the left ventricle and out the aorta.
Semester two will be a study of Ecosystems and Evolution.
