Lower School
The Lower School (Kindergarten – 4th Grade) provides a nurturing community where student needs, strengths, and gifts are known. Our small class sizes provide our students with the individual attention they need to be stimulated at their level. We have a common math hour to help facilitate mathematics by ability/readiness, and our curriculum follows standards from experts in each subject area. Students are in a homeroom where they have subjects in Math, Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, as well as specialists in Art, Music, Physical Education, Library, and Spanish. Students learn how to engage in their learning, make reflections, develop a passion to create, and understand what it means to care for their greater community and friends.
Top-Rated Academics
Our program prepares our students for middle school by guiding them toward future collegiate career aspirations. We have fewer early release days compared to other schools in the area, which means more instructional time (16% more than public school) and teaching contact with students. As a result, students’ performance exceeds state and national standards. The low teacher-to-student ratio makes it easier to individualize learning and our curriculum follows national standards from experts in each subject area (cross-grade STEM-focused curriculum used, too).

Experiential Education
Learning extends beyond the classroom as we strive for experiential education programs through a wide range of curriculum-based field trips, including the Mt. Baker Theater, SPARK Museum of Electrical Invention, Washington State History Museum, and Western Washington University’s science facilities.

Inclusive of All Faiths
We welcome students and teachers of all backgrounds and beliefs. Students assemble for chapel services twice a week and have the opportunity to explore and discuss spiritual matters and to develop a social consciousness. Our Chaplain provides age-appropriate messages that address the practical and spiritual needs of our students. We teach ecumenical Christian values and promote our Core Commitments (Engage, Reflect, Create, and Care). Many of our students are of non-ecumenical faiths and we both embrace and celebrate our rich religious diversity represented in the student body. This has earned the respect, support, and participation of families and students from Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, and other traditions/beliefs.
Our school community (rooted in Christian values and our four Core Commitments: Engage, Reflect, Create, Care), are committed to free and open inquiry at every level.
Comprehensive Programs
A variety of after-school enrichment opportunities allows for extended learning, where students focus on their specific interests while socializing with others. Our notable instructional time and teaching contact with students means that students get more quality time learning.
