We were proud to have our K-8 Veteran’s Day Assembly on Monday morning to honor those that served our country with military service. The Girl Scouts members in our school welcomed all the students, teacher/staff members, parents, and visitors with the Prelude and Posting of Colors and helped lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The entire audience sang the “Star Spangled Banner” and all our visiting Veterans, seated in the front chairs, were acknowledged and introduced by their student. We had about seven service men and women that were able to attend the assembly, ranging from a Major in the United States Army who served as a neurosurgeon in Iraq in 2010 to individuals who served 24 years in the United States Navy.

Students from Mrs. Rodrigo’s 6th Grade class helped provide the History of Veterans Day and Mr. Siemion’s 8th Grade students read the poem “In Flanders Field.”
The 2nd and 8th Graders sang “America the Beautiful” and the assembly closed with the Retiring of the Colors by the Girl Scouts.
Again, we are very grateful for all the sacrifices made by our service men women and glad that we could acknowledge them as a collective school community.
