Brendan Scott, a student at St. Paul’s Academy from preschool through Upper School, elected to contribute his Eagle Scout project back to our school over the summer. He will finish up official reporting in the next few weeks and hopes to receive his Eagle Scout award, which is the highest achievement or rank attainable with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). This process includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. Brendan built prayer benches, painted an accent wall in the chapel space, and hung two lines allowing for student art to be displayed.
He became aware of this need for the school last year and we are thankful that he donated over 30 hours to accomplish it. He met with a few of the Lower School kids as he set up the benches last week. It is so valuable to have younger kids see older students invest back in their community — in this case a school community in which he spent over 14 years.
Brendan is a Running Start student at Whatcom Community College and will graduate from Sehome High School this fall.
Students at the Lower School spend 25 minutes twice a week in Chapel. They will be able to appreciate his service for years to come.
