On Feb. 21st the Lower School had the opportunity to physically experience all that North Coast Gymnastics Academy had to offer.  Through the month of January, all Lower School students are taught basic gymnastics skills in their Physical Education time.  They practice tumbling skills like forward rolls and backward rolls; agility skills like tuck jumps and cartwheels; and balance skills like tree stand and handstand.  Students were then able to use the basic skills they learned in a full gymnastics gym. Students were able to use their upright agility skills on the trampoline. They showed their strength on the rings and climbing over the high balance beams. On the high bars, students showed courage to jump and catch the bar before dropping into the foam pit.  They were able to practice their coordination in flipping over a low bar, blanking across the bridge, and then catching a foam block in mid-air as they leaped into another foam pit.

This Winter Fitness Field Trip allowed our students to move their bodies for 60 minutes and continue to build self-confidence and self-awareness as they tried their skills in a new setting.
