3rd Grade Teacher

Education: Western Washington University (WWU), B.A. in Psychology; WWU, B.A. in Communications; Teaching Certificate, Endorsement in K-8 Education

Linnea McDonnell began teaching at The Franklin Academy in 2006. She has spent time as a teacher in the Lower School, as well as the Middle School. Ms. McDonnell loves the school community! She loves the “family feel” and the warm and welcoming atmosphere at TFA.

Upon graduating from college, Linnea worked in the banking industry for 10 years, then decided that teaching was going to be her second and forever career! Back to school she went, knowing that she was embarking on a career that she would love!

Linnea enjoys many things about teaching, especially the “a-ha” moments that students receive when they realize something for the very first time! Read-alouds in all grade levels are another favorite of hers, as students listen with open ears, eager to discuss the stories with one another! The blessing of watching students learn and grow academically, as well as spiritually and emotionally, is a joy for Linnea.

Outside of school, Ms. McDonnell spends her time with family and friends. She can often be found visiting with loved ones over a cup of coffee, taking her nieces and nephew to the donut shop and scooter riding at the skate park, or walking at the beautiful Bellingham parks. If not there, she’s probably at the local bookstore finding that next great book, or playing “fetch” with her cat – yes, her cat plays fetch!
