Music / Library Specialist - Preschool through 2nd Grade

Education: Western Washington University, B.A. in Music Education

Mrs. Snyder has been a part of the school community since 2003.  She currently teaches general music for preschool through 5thgrade, middle school band, and is the chapel pianist and librarian for the lower school.  She is also the director for the annual Nativity program.

Mrs. Snyder has always loved music.  Starting at age six, she took private lessons on the electric organ.  In 5thgrade she joined band, choosing to play trombone, much to the amusement of the boys.  She later switched from organ to piano lessons in high school.

She received her BA in music education and her Professional Certification from Western Washington University.  At Western, she studied advanced trombone, piano and piano accompanying, and played in several groups including wind ensemble, trombone choir, and a brass quintet.

Some of the many things Mrs. Snyder loves about teaching music is hearing the children’s’ beautiful voices and watching their faces light up with excitement as they explore playing instruments, singing, dancing and creating music.  Her main teaching goal is to help students develop a life-long love of music.  Music can be enjoyed in so many ways and helps people live a more joyful life.

Outside of school, Mrs. Snyder enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and two black cats. She is a self-proclaimed crazy cat person, as many of her students are aware!
