Associate Head of School

Education: B.Ed. from Trinity Western University, Langley B.C.
M.Ed. from Indiana Wesleyan University in Curriculum and Instruction

I grew up in north Whatcom County on a dairy farm where I learned to love hard work. I always loved learning and remember playing school with my siblings from a very young age. After graduating with my B.Ed. from Trinity Western University, I moved overseas to teach 3rd grade at International Community School (Singapore). The initial two-year adventure turned into an amazing 12 years of teaching and learning in a diverse international environment. After four years as a 3rd-grade teacher, I was moved into the middle school to teach science, and quickly developed a love for this amazing age group. Following four years in the science classroom, I served as a middle school principal for the same school, where  I had the opportunity to work with my staff to develop a middle school program that served the students’ social, emotional, and developmental needs. During my years in Singapore, I earned my M.Ed through Indiana Wesleyan University. In 2016 I moved back to the Pacific Northwest to be near family and enjoy the natural beauty that is found here. I have been working as a 3rd-grade teacher in a small school in Mt. Vernon and am excited to be in a diverse, dynamic community of learners that is The Franklin Academy. When I am not working, I love to be outside helping my family on their hobby farm, hiking any of the amazing trails with my little dog and enjoying great coffee and a good book.
