Olivia Dizon

Olivia Dizon was born and raised in the Philippines where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She started teaching as a First grade two months after she graduated from Holy Angel University. Her teaching experience grew across different grade levels for several years until she moved to the United States in December 2004.

While working as a childcare teacher in Bellingham, Olivia went to Whatcom Community College at night, earning her Washington State K-12 Teaching Certificate. This led to work as a substitute teacher at various grade levels within both elementary and middle schools. This experience combined with her teaching in the Philippines allowed her to bring the best education practices of two cultures into the classroom, to help Olivia grow professionally, and to provide a wider range of learning opportunities to students.

In September 2019, she began teaching Kindergarten at Franklin Academy. She moved into the position after teaching Pre-K classes since December 2011.

She enjoys engaging children in ways that help them grow emotionally, socially, academically, physically, and mentally. Being with the children is always a blessing for her and she is amazed at how their natural curiosity leads them to new learning. The children make her feel good with their laughter and hugs.

Olivia loves baking and cooking new recipes during her free time. She also likes to reading and painting and enjoys doing crafts such as knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Lately, opportunities to travel have captured her attention, she loves telling her students about different places she sees and the people she meets.
